Allow CCISD Use Of The Scratch Coding Website

Allow CCISD Use Of The Scratch Coding Website

The Issue

This issue hits really hard on the personal level, seeing as I am one of many people who has been using Scratch for almost a year with an account, but I've been using it since 4th grade (I'm not 7th grade, so about 3 years) now, I used it all summer, and was shocked and dissapointed that the district made the dicision to ban it on all school computers, while still allowing us to access other sites, that, quite frankly, should have been banned first.

Very recently, CCISD has banned use of Scratch, the coding website for kids, on all district issued devices, meaning that some students who weren't working on Scratch 3, the downloadable version for the laptop in which you just create projects, have lost their progress in what they were working on. Now this upset a lot of students, now most have moved on, but I still hear people chatting about it every so often, and how they're dissapointed.

Some students only have their school device, and no others, so they don't have acess to Scratch at all anymore, some used it as a way to connect with other kids, and some just liked going on and checking out the cool stuff people were making.

We request action is taken to this, and that students can use the Scratch website again on school district issued devices.
