Allow an Exception to the number of dogs allowed in a home.

Allow an Exception to the number of dogs allowed in a home.
The Issue
From a place of personal distress, we bring forward this petition. Our furry family expanded recently when our beloved dog gave birth to puppies. However, she fell ill with Mastitis, and we were forced to step in, providing round-the-clock care from as early as 3 weeks old. These circumstances bred an extraordinary connection with the puppies, leading them to become an integral part of our family.
Unfortunately, there's a limit to the number of dogs legally allowed in a home, which presents a dilemma. Foster a bond only to break it eventually? We should not have to face such a heart-wrenching decision. This is not a situation unique to us. There are numerous instances where unforeseen circumstances lead families to nurture more pets than the law typically allows. The American Pet Products Association studies reveal that more than one in three pet owners have experienced similar situations (APPMA, 2021).
We are not advocating for unchecked pet ownership, rather a well-considered exemption considering the exceptional scenario like ours. A balanced approach that respects the wellbeing of the pets and acknowledges the reality of the bonds formed is essential. It's crucial to stress that public and animal welfare will always remain paramount, and potential exemptions will have to meet a stringent set of guidelines to ensure responsible pet ownership as should ours.
Allowing an exemption such as ours, taking into account our unique case will ensure that these creatures who have become our family are not forcibly removed from their home. Sign this petition and support our cause to consider an exemption to the home dog number limitations.
Here is a letter from our amazing Veterinarian.
These are our dogs (yes all Star Wars names)
Obi - 15
Kylo - 3
Tala - 2
Qira - 3 months
Leia - 3 months
Finn - 3 months
JynE - 3 months
Reva - 3 months
We would gladly apply for a Kennel license but we were told we don't have the required setbacks, although we are a unique property and have a 3000sqft barn.
This has been allowed recently in a local town where a breeder has 8 dogs and is using her home as a kennel. We are not breeding these dogs and will only be taking them to shows and gatherings.
