Today we got back to campaigning after the Scottish elections put an unfortunate pause on any campaigning.

Today we introduced ourselves to the new Health Secretary and the Minister in charge of delivering #AnnesLaw -

Hi,

My name is Natasha and my mum is 63 in a care home with what is now end stages Dementia. My mum contracted Covid in April 2020 and was hospitalised, thankfully she pulled through. My mum is non verbal and no longer able to understand what is going on so relies on sensory communication so video calls, window visits, socially distanced visits etc don’t work for her.

My mum has a husband, 4 children plus their partners, 2 grandchildren, siblings and many friends who visited pre covid.

To date only her husband and 2 of her children have been allowed regular time limited scheduled access to her room, which don’t mirror anything like visits were pre covid, despite a hospital at home doctor declaring her end of life in November which we know can mean anything from months to years.

My mum is Anne of Annes Law and this is a small snippet into the past 16months as to why residents need regular access to families and to have the same human rights as those who live in the community.

#AnnesLaw has 95,539 signatures on Change.org it would be great to deliver this ASAP.

Things are nowhere near perfect but i’m a true believer of lived experience can bring around change, we have to make an impact on behalf of our loved ones. It may be draining but keep emailing your MSPs, contact your local councillors.

Each individual lived experience collectively builds an argument for why we need change.

I hate to think where we would be if we hadn’t spoke up back in August 2020.
