I have a dream of spreading positivity around to everyone and the best way for me to do that right now is through TikTok. Ever since I got age-restricted, I haven’t been able to grow my account, which in turn means I can't make as many people smile. I want this to change, and I feel as if many others feel the same way.

TikTok is a platform for creativity, connection, and community. Limiting the feature to go live exclusively to those over 18 prevents many young and responsible creators from sharing their talents, stories, and positivity with a broader audience. Young people aged 16 and above have varied perspectives and unique voices that deserve to be heard. Just like adults, they can responsibly manage and benefit from the platform’s live feature.

The ability to go live on TikTok for users aged 16 and older will not only help in personal growth but will also open doors for spreading kindness and positivity at a time when the world truly needs it. Restricting live access based on age overlooks the maturity and creativity of several young users who could substantially contribute to TikTok's diverse community.

Allowing 16 and 17-year-olds to go live would also mean fostering a new era of young influencers who can advocate for change, share educational content, and inspire their peers. Many countries legally permit individuals aged 16 and above to work, drive cars, and even vote in local elections, showcasing that they possess the maturity needed for various responsibilities.

By adjusting the age restriction policy, TikTok would reflect its commitment to inclusivity and empower young voices to contribute positively. Let's urge TikTok to reconsider their age restrictions for going live, so that creators like myself and many others can keep spreading smiles and positivity.
