The Issue

In Pender County, agriculture isn't just an industry; it's a way of life. As residents and stakeholders deeply embedded in our community's rich agricultural heritage, we recognize the integral role farming and agricultural activities play in our local economy and culture. However, we face a significant challenge: the absence of a dedicated space for agricultural events and education.

Our community has long desired a facility that caters specifically to our agricultural needs, a place where 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, and local residents can congregate and participate in events, shows, and educational programs that bolster our vibrant agricultural community.

The proposed Long Creek Community Park site at 23280 N.C. Highway 210 in Rocky Point presents a unique opportunity. Currently, there is a portion of unassigned acreage at this location that could serve as the perfect setting for a multi-purpose Agricultural Events Facility. This facility wouldn't just serve as a venue for events; it would be a hub for agricultural education, innovation, and community bonding.

Consider the long-term benefits: this facility would encourage tourism, foster business opportunities, and support youth programs, thereby contributing to the economic and social vitality of Pender County. By investing in this facility, we invest in the future of our community and its rich agricultural legacy.

By signing this petition, you support the initiative to allocate the necessary acres at Long Creek Community Park for an Agricultural Arena Facility. Join us in urging the Pender County Board of Commissioners and Pender County Parks and Recreation to prioritize this project for the benefit of current and future generations. Your signature will make a difference in ensuring our agricultural community continues to thrive.
