Update On 183 Main Street East - Request For Irregular Severance

The developer is asking the Town to approve an irregular severance for this lot which would see part of the front yard of the Esther Jasperson Campbell house severed.  Furthermore, they request to share the current driveway of house since there is not enough space for a separate, unique driveway for the back of the property.  

This severance should be turned down for the following reasons:

1). Having a portion of the front lot severed does not protect the value of the heritage home for the citizens of Kingsville.  Furthermore, this request does not align with the developer’s previous stated goals of beautifying the front of the property with plants and greenery. What is the purpose of this severance to the planned condo development?  Will it be used for overflow parking in front of the heritage home?

2) A single shared lane way should not be allowed when the proposed development is for a multi-unit condo development.  A building of this size should have two access points to/from the property from a safety and security standpoint.  How will large emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, navigate this laneway?  This development will also contribute to current traffic issues on Main Street East.

If you disagree with this severance request, please write to your Councillors and tell them ‘No’ to severance at 183 Main Street East today.
