Petition updateStop The Demolition and Rezoning of 183 Main Street East Kingsville, Ontario

After Three Long Years: An Update on 183 Main Street East, Kingsville

After three long years, a decision was delivered by the Ontario Government to allow the plans for a three storey apartment building to be constructed behind the Esther Jasperson Campbell home at 183 Main Street East in Kingsville.

Our community came together and fought to save this house and, with the help of our Heritage Committee and over three thousand residents, including all who signed this petition, we managed to prevent the demolition of this historic home.

We would like to thank everyone who supported this initiative through kind words, emails, personal letters, attendance at key meetings and letters to Town Council.

In spite of the Ontario Land Tribunal's (OLT) decision, we are not discouraged since our primary goal was achieved in having this home designated.

Times are changing and it appears that the Provincial Government has stripped much decision-making away from our municipalities (that's a petition for another day!) and progress continues, often at the expense of small-town living.

What we have learned from this process is that by working together, we can achieve what we are often told is impossible.  Now, more than ever, is the time to participate in our community.  Your voice matters.

As Municipal Elections approach, it is now more important than ever to let the candidates hear from you.

As such, Kingsville residents are invited to join our Facebook Group: Kingsville All-Candidates Group to speak directly to the candidates who have stepped up to participate.  You can find the group here:

We hope to see you online, to hear from your about what matters most in our community and to come together for positive change in our beloved Kingsville!
