People see cops as fair and as hero’s. That is not true, and this is why... because I have seen the racism with Canadian police officer and nurses with my own eyes. Don’t automatically trust an authority figure if they have a badge.

1. 2016 Canada day surrey concert: a indigenous family sat in front of me and a police officer approached a little boy and girl, and glared at them and asked
“ what are you doing here.” The little boy who was approximately 8 years old sat down and looked down. Why did the police officer asked only specifically them and not others ?
2. 2017, Royal Columbia hospital: a 16 year old indigenous boy try to commit suicide, and he asked when he could go home
The nurse responded “ maybe if you didn’t commit suicide you would be home with your family.” The younger boy stayed in silence and was sad. To be honest if I wasn’t in high dosage of morphine I would have said something, but I still feel guilty.
3. 2018, my town house complex: I was walking my dogs and my neighbour approached me telling me about the incident that happened that night. She was telling me about little indigenous boy she was babysitting,
“Last night we had to call the cops because the little boy tried to commit suicide, and the police officer just left because it was irrelevant because he was a foster kid.”
My heart dropped, how can you leave a 12 year old boy when they have suicidal thoughts?
4. 2019, home. Around 9am and from a male officer calling me back from a specific case I reported. The officer specifically said which I would never forget
“ if you didn’t fight back, try leave the room and you knew him it’s consider to be consensual.”
I was so hurt I was alone in my house crying, and being told that it was my fault even though I said no. That was the darkest moment in my life.
