1. Police may have got training but they do not know how to approach the situation in an appropriate manner.
how? People may ask
when the police do not want to investigate the case, they call the victims and say,
”I feel that there is no real evidence, and what I see is that in this case it was consensual.”
or
“ as well you did not push him away, and try to get out of the situation. So it was consensual.”
Telling a victims that they put themselves in the situation re traumatized them, could lead them to a depressive episode or suicide.
2. The purpose is to draw awareness to individuals and discuss this issue. The goal is to address this to the police and plan a proper procedure on how to police officers need to talk to sexual assault victims!
