YEAH!!!!!!!! I am happy to announce that both Computer Science bills passed the Assembly today. A2873 (65-0) requires all high schools in NJ to offer Computer Science. This would make NJ the 5th state with this requirement. A3870 (66-1-2) creates a Computer Science Teaching endorsement. The will make NJ the 30th state with a CS certification but one of the few with a 15 credit add on endorsement for teachers who are certified in other areas. They will be signed into law next week as long as Governor Christie doesn't veto them. This could not have been done without your help. Thank you to everyone who signed the petition and contacted Assemblyman Prieto's office. This is the last day bills can be passed in this session, so they gave us a few grey hairs, but the important thing is that both passed!!!! This will give ALL students in NJ the opportunity to take Computer Science from qualified teachers. This can change lives. Thank you so much and hoping Governor Christie does the right thing this week. I will let you know when I hear more. Daryl Warren Hills CS Teacher Computer Science Teachers Association of NJ (CSTANJ)
