Petition updateAll city of Ottawa parks need to be inclusive and accessible!Accessible doesn't mean inclusive

According to the City of Ottawa, our local park is considered an accessible park. The picture on the left is what's called a transfer system (the oversized step). If a park has a transfer system OR a ramp, it can be considered accessible. Clearly, this is an issue for kiddos in wheelchairs.

The 2nd picture is Lolo and Élo. Lolo is in her specialized stroller. Fortunately for now, she is small enough that we can carry her around. You can clearly see that this park isn't inclusive to wheelchair users.

The 3rd picture is from the city's accessibility design standard. When we approach many people from the city, they tell us that parks are accessible because they meet the AODA standards. Unfortunately, these standards are the bare minimum when it comes to accessibility and actually exclude kids in wheelchairs.

This is my life mission right now. Help me help kiddos like Laurence that love to play at the park but can't because of poor park designs.
