Algorithms and Mental Health

Algorithms and Mental Health
The Issue
For the longest times we have been targeted by Algorithms in our phones. While Our children keep consuming media through endless scrolls, the impact of this keeps our education system in question. Why should we let our children suffer later on when we don't do something about this today.
I Manoj and 3 others have made this petition for your signature and your attention, for our state governor of VA to restrict ai algorithms within our local area.
We need your simple attention for this movement.
During the pandemic we hit a high in loneliness and had an excuse to be online. Through this we saw how in such a short time the effects of this were shown when kids went back to school. Some even saying how this had an impact of people being less together. "Looking back, nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults (72%) say the pandemic did more to drive the country apart than to bring it together." (Tyson, Lipka and Deane)
While this was detrimental to their social life. These things slowly take over our life and would not stop over time. "Adolescents, aged 10-19 years, are uniquely vulnerable during this developmental stage, as their brains undergo rapid changes in areas governing emotion regulation and identity formation, making them particularly susceptible to external influences like social media." (Osbourne, 1)
We can look at some of the data here and know how much our children might be affected as they get older. We must worry about our communities before it's too late. Join us, let's take what needs to be stopped today.
