Sustainability in Oranienburg

Oranienburg is a city just 40 km north of Berlin. It has 40.000 inhabitants and many of them are commuters who need to get to Berlin every morning. Some of these commuters park their cars in front of the train station.

Today these cars are often only used for very short trips to get to public transportation.

Many cities including Oranienburg could still improve their sustainability. Our suggestion is to implement car sharing providers and to support the infrastructure of public transportation. In the best case these buses and trains are powered with electricity gained from renewable energy.

A car sharing service near the train station could relieve the environmental pressure at least in some way. Of course public transport or bikes would be even better but some people just do not have the options to use them. People just like, that you are for yourself in your car - listening to your music and controlling the AC the way they like. Going by bike is really good for the environment but it strongly depends on the weather and season. Implementing green public transportation would then connect people within Oranienburg.
