See below letter from the Darcy Lever Residents Association regarding the Planning Committee and showing our objections on the day and some good info regarding the Councils attempts at ignoring the covenant on OUR land! "Dear Resident, As you are aware at the last residents meeting on Tuesday there was a strong feeling about the building of a cycle track on Leverhulme Park. We were given permission at that meeting to contact the trustees, and inform them of our opposition to this application. We have since found out that that on the 19th April 1963 Bolton Council registered the park as a charity and declared themselves the trustees of the park, with a Governing document of a conveyance dated 14th April 1916. However, the Conveyance document which we acquired on Tuesday for that part of the park was dated 28th October 1921, which we would assume overrides the one the council are working off. Since Tuesday Councillor Hornby has been told by Cliff Morris that the trustees have given permission for the cycle track. (He has asked for a copy of the letter). Well we are not surprised, if Bolton Council are the trustees. So this looks like a stitch-up. The contact for the trustees is a Mr Nigel Hartley, Ellesmere Street, Bolton BL3 5DT 01204 334012, which is the Mayor Street Depot for Bolton Council. There will be a site visit Thursday 20th October, probably in the morning, as the full planning committee meet in the afternoon and we urge anyone who is available to attend at least the site visit, and if possible the planning meeting in the afternoon.
