Hi everyone! My apologies for sending another update so soon after the first one, but I have recently learned that the federal government also issues permits for open-pit coal mines, despite it being a "provincial" responsibility. As a result, if the federal government does not issue a permit for the Grassy Mountain Coal Project or cancels it, the project can never go ahead! All we need to do is let the federal government know that lots of people living in Canada, and especially people in Alberta, are against this project. If many of us send e-mails demonstrating our resistance to these new mines, we might be able to influence the federal government to stop the projects in their tracks.
Like last time, we made a template for the e-mail that should be sent to The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Environment and Climate Change. You can copy it using the link here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tdPoyO_khV3XK2LFExN5W1ZQM5atqSCbT4bR7Ut_EVc/edit?usp=sharing , or you can create an e-mail by yourself too.
Thank you all for the support! I will send an update soon whenever something new comes up.
