A lot of parents have been asking about post by Marlene Simmons (president of the union for CHEP teachers) about the event taking place today at 4:00 (200 Kalmus Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626).
This petition and the teachers petition against the OCDE administration are very different. This petition is targeted at the specific problem of the closure of CHEP Sites, and calls for specific actions.
These call outs can only be achieved with the help of the administrators who have all the power. I don't think it helps to make enemies.
Having said that, CHEP is great because teachers and parents work so closely that we are like family. I whole heartedly disagree with the latest actions taken by the OCDE administrators to let teachers and staff go in mass to save money. It does not serve the children's interests.
It's a great thing to show support for the efforts of our teachers. If you want to attend then it would be a good thing. They need to see that we are all affected by this and that they are turning their backs on the students and families that they serve.
We have already lost so much this past year. I have sent a letter to OCDE administrators regarding the issue described in this petition hoping to get some news to share with you all here. They have not replied.
