Special Election for Iowa Governor once Branstad goes to China

After this legislative session in Iowa, it's clear legislators are about big money instead of Iowans. Our current governor, Terry Branstad, is leaving his office as Trump's ambassador to China. While we wish him luck, it is my belief Iowans should have the right to elect his replacement as governor instead of inheriting Kim Reynolds. Iowa should be able to hold a special election to find his replacement. If Iowans choose Kim Reynolds, so be it. Iowans should have the opportunity to elect Branstad's successor. Our representatives have strayed far from what most Iowans want, moderate representation and compromise. It's time to remind those promoting these extreme right agendas that this is not our Iowa, and this is not what we want for our state. We are and will always be a purple state, we expect free and fair elections. A special election would be going the right direction to show legislators still encourage the viewpoints of their consitituents over their big donors. Sign the petition and let Iowa know we deserve a special election for this vacated position. Many other vacated elected officials leave knowing their state will have special elections like Kansas and Georgia. It's time to vote for our governor, not inherit one.
