AKC & ACKCSC PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of Chocolate Colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

AKC & ACKCSC PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of Chocolate Colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
The Issue
The American Kennel Club (AKC) currently allows the FULL registration of Chocolate Colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. However, they do it behind closed doors, in secret.
The problem is that both the AKC and the ACKCSC (American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club Inc) have NOT PUBLICALLY acknowledged their acceptance. The AKC claims that the ACKCSC provides the acceptable color listings for the breed. The ACKCSC, to date has not responded to any requests to validate either way. The ACKCSC has a standard with the current four colors THAT THEY PROVIDE TO THE AKC. HOWEVER, two alternate colors (Chocolate as well as Chocolate & White with Tan Markings) are allowed for registration by the AKC. This has caused unnecessary amounts of confusion for breeders, owners and the general public. Many new owners do not know how to register their Chocolate CKCS with the AKC since they cannot see the appropriate alternate color, so they skip registering all together which is a loss of pertinent historical information and statistical breed data.
This needs to be changed to reflect the thousands of Chocolate AKC registered Cavalier owners and breeders.
In 2022, Pawrade added Chocolates as an alternate color. This year, GoodDog has added Chocolate as an alternate color for buyers and breeders. This month the UK Kennel Club registered their first Chocolate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This was an AKC registered Chocolate Cavalier that was imported from the USA.
Now would be a great time for the AKC to update the site to appropriately reflect the already accepted alternate colors. The ACKCSC needs to support this correction.
This petition is to gain attention from the AKC & ACKCSC so that they may address this issue.
We are asking that the AKC & ACKCSC PUBLICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE that CHOCOLATE COLORED CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIELS CAN BE REGISTERED!
