18 years ago, the only known albino gorilla in the world passed away. Many people  born in Barcelona fell to tears when he died in 2003 due to skin cancer. He was Snowflake, a beautiful symbol of the city of Barcelona that many Barcelonans have fond memories of.

“I worry about all kind of  gorillas, but Copito was so special that there were only eyes for him. He was a good father and a good grandfather, he took great care of his own ”, said Teresa Abelló, one of the biologists who took care of gorillas.

The Mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, promised naming a street or square that he himself baptized as “Citizen Copito”, as well as to build a realistic statue of this great animal, since it’s been a symbol of the city during years.

But, as a good politician, he lied.

Some years later, the government of the new mayor,  Xavier Trias, proposed to recognize the primate, as Joan Clos had previously promised.

Guess what. Well, he lied too.

With this request it would be very cool to add some beautiful history of the city, and give this "Copito citizen" a place where he can be remembered.

If we have streets and statues of generals, politicians and even wars, why not one of Snowflake, the albino gorilla that got to the heart of many people?

Sign this petition to gain strength and show the City Council that we remember Snowflake and that we remember the unfulfilled promises that they make in the campaign, and of which they are never remembered later.
