The State Government of Maharashtra on 8th of May, 2020 : 1 pm with the current situation of pan India lock-down due to Covid-19 pandemic in mind declared that there will be no examinations for the First Year and Second Year students and the students will be promoted to the next semester. It issued a few guidelines in this regard as well. But the School of Engg. of Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil University, Pune and the faculty of the other branches as well are saying that examinations should be conducted as planned. 

This is unfair to the students who are not being able to study because of network issues. This is unfair to students who are not being able to understand the topics explained because of lack of communication and the limitations of the medium which classes are currently being conducted. And this is against the guidelines specified by the government.

The inability to study due the current situation will cause even the brightest of students to fail or score marks that will NOT represent their ability, their understanding of the subject or their potential. 

A lot of us currently lack the study material as some of us had left our books and equipment, laptops etc. in hostels. It is not easy or impossible in some cases to acquire the study material amid this crisis .

Though strides had been made by our faculty to better the situation and the study conditions by providing study material in the form of YouTube videos and articles and some guidance, it is still not on par with the level of understanding and communication a student achieves by being in the company of his/her peers or teachers. We did try to communicate this issue with HOD of our branch (SOE) but he was insistent on following the exam agenda and schedule that was issued pre-cancellation.

We want The Ajeenkya D.Y. University, Pune to make decisions following the guidelines issued by the Honorable Government of Maharashtra and thereby cancel the examinations and promote the students of FY and SY to the next semester.
