We have been overwhelmed with positive feedback on the new Medical Device Awareness Card (see some comments below).

However, we want to make sure we reach ALL insulin pump and CGM users (including the Freestyle Libre) and also to let people know we are happy to provide a passport-sized printed version of the card, free of charge upon receipt of an SAE (UK only).

Therefore, we have produced new A4 posters, please can you print and take them to anywhere T1 related … clinic, doctors, diabetes groups, fundraiser events, conferences … to help us spread the word.

Some of the comments received so far…

Thank you so, so much for this. We used this today flying through Luton. It was a dream, no questions asked as soon as security saw this.”

Smooth and dignified through security with the new Medical Device Awareness Card. We were at Stansted - they offered to search in a private room which suited my son who hates the whole rigmarole. Much less humiliation than normal and much more understanding staff with an official piece of paper rather than just a neurotic mum!

That was so much easier. Every member of staff recognised the card, no pressure to go through the scanner or put spare sensors in the x-ray. Thank you!

I always hope for minimum fuss and Gatwick just patted him down by the scanner. When the guy asked what was in his pocket and he said ‘it’s my CGM’ the guy just went ‘oh right, like on the card’ Hope tackling the slopes will be as easy!

Thank you for your time.
