Our petition has been featured on the website Yahoo News as well as AccomNews, (a travel Industry Magazine). Thank you to Change.org and their media expert Harrison for getting the word out there.

The crew at Accessible Accommodation will keep doing everything they can to raise awareness that we would like to enter into constructive dialogue with airlines on the challenges people with disabilities face when flying.
These include:

  • Damage to precious wheelchairs and wheelie walkers in the cargo hold because they can’t take them in the cabin.
  • Discomfort and physical risk to the body by not being able to remain in a wheelchair during the flight.
  • Lack of accessible toilets on planes
  • Mistreatment of people with disabilities (due to inadequate staff training by airport and airline staff).

People with disabilities represent 19% of our population in Australia. 25% of our population are retirees. As they age, their need for seamless accessibility will only increase. They don't just travel alone either. The challenges of flying with a disability affect loved ones as well.

Our community has a powerful voice. Let's use it! PLEASE SHARE our petition and thank you to over 37,000 people who have signed so far.

Kerry
