As of August 26 of this year the “AI Office” of the EU will implement a code of practice  which will support compliance with the AI Act transparency obligations related to marking and labelling of all Ai-generated content!  (image above a detail of some of the Ai identifying icons intended for use)

“The European AI Office was established within the European Commission as the foundation for a single AI governance system. It supports the EU approach to AI, playing a key role in implementing the AI Act – especially for general-purpose AI (GPAI) – guaranteeing the health, safety and fundamental rights of people and providing legal certainty to businesses. It also enforces the rules for GPAI models and supports the governance bodies in Member States in their tasks. This is underpinned by the powers given to the Commission by the AI Act, including the ability to conduct evaluations of GPAI models, request information and measures from model providers, and apply sanctions.”

If well  implemented with support (including financial if needed)  and enforcement (including appropriate, enforced consequences for those who refuse to label Ai generated content) this could be a successful model  for establishing worldwide/international  rules related to marking and labelling of all Ai-generated content! As you know,  a worldwide coming together to  protect society by establishing regulations against Ai Harms is a goal of our Change(dot) org petition! This is a great development in the direction, the best direction, the needed direction,  we have been advocating for! The European AI Office of the European Commission is one of the “decision makers” your signatures will be forwarded to at petition end.
