Agropartnerships Nigeria: Signatures for class action lawsuit to recoup investment
The Issue
Considering the rate of inflation in Nigeria, the almost daily devaluation of the Naira, people are constantly looking for ways to make their hard earned income go an extra mile. They are constantly looking for investment opportunities that can at least keep par with the double digit inflation in Nigeria.
No matter how dire things get, people will always eat, and so Agriculture is always a good investment if you have the resources and time to farm. But seeing that not everyone has the resources and the time to farm, the next best option is to invest in agriculture in alternative means.
So, when Agropartnerships came along in 2012 as a platform to invest in Agriculture, it was the perfect alternative to actually farming. According to Agropartnerships on their website, it "A simple, risk free and profitable program perfect for people looking to engage in Agriculture but don't have the knowledge, capacity or time to execute their agriculture desires. We provide all the tools and handle all management necessary for a successful farming operation."
Recently in Q4 2021, Agropartnerships suddenly stopped paying their investors back their invested capital and interest. It started with the inability of investors to withdraw their money directly from the website and having to manually request payout by email. Then it became an outright inability to process payout with excuses upon excuses as to why payout is impossible. They have gone as far as to offer higher interest rates for not paying as and when due. They have forcefully reinvested investors' money without permission. These are not options that investors have asked for because if payments cannot be made at maturity, there is every likelihood that payments will not be made on the reinvested amounts.
Agropartnerships is sitting on Billions of Naira of investors' money and refusing to pay people their rightful due even though the investments are supposed to be 100% comprehensively insured. Agropartnerships claimed on their website that: "We understand that your money is valuable hence all farms, commodities and warehouses are backed by comprehensive insurance providers."
I am an investor in several Agropartnerships cycles. I, like many Nigerians who invested in Agropartnerhips was just looking for legit ways to make my income meets the needs and pressure on us. If you are an Agropartnerships investor whose funds are being withheld and you are at a loss of what to do, this petition is an opportunity to join in seeking justice and not let the sweat put into your hard earned money go to waste.
Please sign this petition so that we can hold Agropartnerships accountable through a class action lawsuit.
