Corro”ll Driskell, CEO of the Georgia HOA Alliance is against the POA. The Georgia HOA Alliance mission is to develop, strengthen, and protect Georgia neighborhood associations through education, programs, and legislation.
Corro’ll Driskell response to the Walden Park Board unanimous decision to convert Walden Park from an HOA to a POA is as follows:
“The members of WP are right to be overly concerned with such a move. Here is the shocker. Why were the documents written to allow the Board, without the members consent, to make a decision to submit all members to a more restrictive set of laws than they originally consented at time of purchase? I refused to open my family to further restrictions in our HOA community & the majority felt the same in our community. Further, why would a board of neighbors would allow an attorney firm outside of the community to profit on the backs of neighbors having a difficult time. Many people have not recovered from the covid. Also, we have many neighbors dealing with health challenges and are seniors. That is cold hearted.
Opposite, I do understand pursuing those that refuse to contribute. Limit your focus to those type of members. All HOAs have tools at their disposal to collect. If you hired a management company, they are to do the work as prescribed by the Declaration. All board members should know that the mgmt. company reports to the board and not the other way around. They are advisors. Make them do their jobs.”
