Take Down the After School App

Take Down the After School App
The Issue
Rutland High School of Vermont and the school's club, Cyber You, request that ONE, Inc take down the After School App. We also request that Apple Corporation stop offering the app in the App Store.
In recent weeks, students at Rutland High School and other Vermont schools experienced the effects of despicable cyberbullying, facilitated by the After School App and others like it. The After School App allows for cyberbullying and obscene posts under the cloak of anonymity. The After School App is produced by ONE, Inc, of Rancho Cordova, CA, (866) 343-6940. The creators are Cory Levy and Michael Callahan. Their work is described here: http://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-after-school-app-2014-12
Rutland's Cyber You is a student-led group that promotes responsible digital citizenship, educating students on the effects of cyberbullying, and encouraging students to be "upstanders, not bystanders." Cyber You and Rutland High School conducted a Positive Post-it campaign to direct positive energy against the negative effects of ONE, Inc and the app creators. That story is here: http://tinyurl.com/q2nrtbg
We call on all Vermonters and others to stand up against such poor corporate citizenship, in which companies provide a forum that promotes bullying.
