Dear Supporters,

I want to take a moment to update you on a very personal and heart-wrenching event that recently unfolded in my family—an experience that echoes the struggles faced by many in our immigration system.

My father departed Australia yesterday to look after my skin nan. At the airport, my father was taken aside by immigration officials, fingerprinted, photographed, and informed that he would be barred from returning to Australia for the next three years. This harsh and humiliating process has left my father emotionally shattered. He is not leaving for a vacation but is forced to abandon his life and family here to care for dying parents overseas. Despite our pleas for an exemption, the system showed no compassion or flexibility.

My father has always respected the rules, yet he is being punished in a manner that has deeply scarred him, mentally and emotionally.

While this situation is deeply personal to us, I believe it reflects the struggles of many families who are caught in the complexities and coldness of the immigration system.

Take Action: Email the Immigration Minister
I am calling on all of you who support this cause to stand with us by emailing the Immigration Minister, Tony Burke, here and urging him to show compassion in cases like my parents. Despite having plead 5 months ago on 4 different occasions for a travel exemption, we have had no response from the Immigration regarding this request. We need the human element to return to the decisions that affect families. Let your voices be heard, and let’s work together for change.

Thank you for your continued support.

With hope and determination,
Singh and Kaur family
