Hi everyone, first of all I want to say WOW. We have reached almost 40,000 signatures. Thank you so much

But on a more solemn note, as you may have seen in the news, an elephant has attacked a trainer at African Lion Safari.

here is the link to the article-

I am so sad that this has happened, and I honestly worry about the elephant being euthanized for endangering the life of a human. That is often how we deal with animals who act out. Obviously we do not know the circumstances of what happened and therefore cannot judge.

I have emailed the author of the article to inform him of this petition in case they are interested. I think this all ties together into the ultimate welfare of the elephants.

My ultimate goal has always been the safety and happiness of the elephants, starting with the end of the rides. I think that elephants should be allowed to just be elephants with enough space and enrichment to roam and be happy. They shouldn't have such small enclosures that they need human interaction for stimulation to keep them from boredom.

I only hope that the trainer makes a full recovery and the elephant is not blamed for this accident.

Again, thank you everyone
