The Issue

The City of Los Angeles & local government's refusal to ACT on behalf of the basic needs of it's Black/ African American constituents has resulted in a complete HUMANITARIAN CRISIS in Africa Town Los Angeles & in fact Black Los Angeles in it's entirety; which has locked Black Angelinos in a hopeless swamp ripe with an economic crisis, homelessness crisis, mental health crisis, Healthcare crisis, unemployment crisis, education crisis, police brutality, mass incarceration, & an under-employment crisis etched in stone by a dramatic income gap which has driven Blacks far below the poverty line & into a 4th class citizenry & political insolvency with little to no representation, resulting in this request presented by the Africa Town Coalition for EMERGENCY HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE & SWIFT AFFECTIVE ACTION FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENT!

The very future of Black Los Angeles hangs in the balance as the policies put forth by local government has driven a majority of Black Men, Women, & yes CHILDREN either directly into the streets or living one paycheck away from losing EVERYTHING, only to be further victimized and criminalized by these same policies & the City's refusal to even acknowledge Black Angelinos as a legitimate group & constituency all while consistently & promptly seeing to the needs of every other constituency & group, as clearly illustrated by the recent racist scandal invoicing sitting council-members such as Mr. Kevin De Leon.

Furthermore, rather it's the City's egregious actions involving the L.A. County's Labor board which has gutted Black employment or it's catering to its big money clients such as Landlords etc which has resulted in unaffordable housing & more, this is tantamount to OPEN GOVERNMENT SANCTIONED ETHNIC CLEANSING & BLACK LOS ANGELES IS EFFECTIVELY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION PROMPTING THE AFRICA TOWN COALITION TO TAKE SWIFT ACTION, therefore, along with direct input from our partner organizations who also work in the Black Community alongside us, we have compiled the following requests/demands in Honor of Our Ancestors & In Preparation for Future Generations of Black Angelenos!
