Advocate for Richie Alaniz's Graceful Parole Based on His Positive Community Impact
The Issue
Richie Alaniz, a resident of Bayview, ID, has transformed his life extraordinarily after being in and out of the system since he was 13. Richie is now a beacon of hope and positivity in our community, running a non-profit organization and tirelessly giving back to those who need it most, including giving everyone hope and redirection to staying off the streets.
Richie has been taken advantage of since he was a child from adults who told him he had no choice and no other way of living, and he found community and security knowing he would be safe. No child should ever be punished for their lack of guidance and the failure of parental figures, when they’ve done nothing but change their entire life around from it.
After his release, he has been able to purchase a house, a car, and most importantly, he established a non-profit organization and shop serving the community through his passions by training their animals to fit their service needs while also training the owners, and children as well. Richie has changed lives of veterans that couldn’t even leave their bedroom. He can’t do that if you take him away from us.
Despite this dignified life turnaround, Richie faces severe consequences due to a minor infraction, and his background and mistake from almost 20 years ago. There is a looming fear, particularly among those who know him personally, that he may face undue punishment due to his former mistakes and racial prejudice. So many people who hold more privilege have been given multiple chances after their mistakes on parole. Richie has managed to not only stay out of trouble since he’s been out, but has given back immensely, we please ask that you give him the same grace.
Richie has not only exemplified what it means to change, but he has also gone above and beyond by positively impacting those around him. With the overwhelming support from our community, it is clear that Richie deserves another chance.
We're directing this petition at the PAROLE COMMISSION, asking that they thoroughly consider Richie's profound transformation since his release and his immense contribution to our local community. Please do not make an example out of him because of his skin color, or because of his past decades ago. WE URGE THE PAROLE COMMISSION TO LET RICHIE ALANIZ OFF ON PAROLE AND NOT SEND HIM TO PRISON. This matter signifies more than one man's destiny; it echoes society's capacity for forgiveness, growth, and belief in the narrative of change.
Please, sign this petition to support Richie Alaniz, a gentle soul whose actions have loudly spoken of his reform. Stand up for justice and advocate for the power of positive transformation and put an end to throwing the book at those with darker skin before looking at who they are as a person.
