Advocate for DPP to keep Farm To Barn Cafe open!

Advocate for DPP to keep Farm To Barn Cafe open!
The Issue
Aloha everyone,
Michelle here, owner of Farm To Barn. We've been open for 6 years and many in our community are aware that the department of planning and permitting is making it hard for us to stay in business due to the zoning district that we're in and the claim is that we're not selling things grown on our land which is a violation of the land use ordinance for AG-1 land. We do in fact source produce from the farm on our property. We've done so since 2019. We were given notice on September 6, 2024 that we needed to correct the "violation" by September 18th or begin paying a $500/day fine until it's corrected. I chose to keep the business open and consume the fees during this period purely to keep my staff employed and for our community that comes to enjoy the food, drinks and the yard every week with their families, kids and dogs!
When we opened in 2018 the 2 acre farm lot next to the cafe was vacant and the land was not being cared for or farmed. In 2019 Jason and Jen of Thrive Farms took over the farm and now it is 2 acres of thriving farm land that supply not only us at Farm To Barn but our local community and other local businesses.
Please help us by signing this petition to continue serving our community, providing jobs, encouraging a more sustainable way of living through our own methods and ultimately continue providing food and drinks to our visitors that are meant to fuel and nourish your body and highlight all the great things the Aina provides!
