Advocate for Comprehensive Sex Education to Prevent Teen Pregnancies

The Issue

Many teenagers wasn't handed the tools and education necessary to make informed decisions about her body. Her life took a downward spiral due to an unexpected teenage pregnancy, a fate suffered by too many young women worldwide.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 12 million girls aged 15–19 years and at least 777,000 girls under 15 years give birth each year in developing regions (source: WHO). From a U.S perspective, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported in 2017 that nearly 200,000 babies were born to women aged 15–19 years. These statistics are heart-wrenching and must mobilize us towards action.

This petition is to urge our legislators and school boards to ensure comprehensive sexual education is mandatory in our schools. Such education should include accurate information about contraception, safe sex, body autonomy, and consent. It must strike a balance between informing young adults about the potential consequences of early sexual activity, including unplanned pregnancies, and empowering young people to make healthy decisions about relationships and sex.

•Mission Statement

Our advocacy aims to educate, empower, and support teenagers to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. By fostering awareness and providing access to resources, we strive to reduce teenage pregnancy rates and promote brighter futures for young individuals.
