The Issue

Why This Petition

With AITA's presidential election court-mandated for September 30, 2026, Indian tennis has a rare chance to reset its governance. Players Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja have proposed a 10-point plan grounded in the National Sports Development Code, built on transparency, accountability, and professionalism.

We, the undersigned — players, parents, coaches, and stakeholders of Indian tennis — urge AITA's incoming leadership and administration to formally adopt this plan as the foundation of a stronger, fairer, and more player-oriented federation.

One Tennis, One Voice. It is time for the Players AITA.

We Call on AITA to Commit to the Following:

1. Age & Eligibility - No person over 70 for office or voting. (As per National Sports Act)

2. Term Limits - Max 3 four-year terms, mandatory cooling-off period, max 2 consecutive terms. (As per National Sports Act)

3. Complete Financial Transparency - Publicly disclose Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, Government, and AITA Trust funds.

4. Independent Yearly Audits - Annual audits for every State association, AITA, and the AITA Trust, with reports made publicly available.

5. Athletes Commission Voices - Merit-based coach selection with Athletes Commission approval. 25% Athletes representation in the Executive Committee.

6. No Conflict of Interest - Strict rules against using AITA positions for personal or family gain.

7. Pathway Tennis Centres - Build State & National Tennis Centres for homegrown players; resolve pending land and legal issues.

8. Professional Captains & Coaches - Full-time professional captains and coaches for Davis Cup/Billie Jean King Cup teams, with the Athletes Commission leading selection discussions.

9. Player Pension System - Pension and retirement support after age 45 for all players who gave their best years to Indian tennis.

10. Well-Funded Indian Tournament Structure - A stronger domestic calendar with meaningful prize money to help fund each player's international career.

Thank you for standing by us!

Initiated by Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja, on behalf of the Indian Tennis Community.

Jai Hind!
