The Issue

The growing number of street children in the Philippines is a significant challenge that demands immediate action, especially from government agencies who provide assistance and services. Regardless of the facilities available, it is crucial for every individual to receive love, care, attention, and support that fosters their overall growth and development.

As people walk by on the busy streets of Pasig City, we have witnessed a sad reality that many of us prefer to ignore—the presence of street children scattered around Pasig City. These children have nowhere to go and call their home, no family to run to, nor anyone to support them emotionally or financially. Many of them are exploited and forced to work for others, even robbed of their childhoods that they should have had. Many of us have seen them begging for money on sidewalks with their small hands asking for help, while every night and day their bodies lay asleep on cold sidewalks because it’s the only place that they can afford to stay. What’s even more tragic is that some of them are victims of addictions that could ruin their lives in the future. This raises an awareness and a need for a stronger support system and immediate action to protect these children and provide them with shelter, nutrition, and a chance for a better life.

Addressing the crisis is not only about providing shelter, but also ensuring every child grows up with love, security, and support.

This will benefit the following:

  1. Street Children - With increased assistance and resources, they will gain access to basic needs such as food, education, proper care, and emotional support, leaving no child behind, and every young mind can thrive.
  2. Adoptive and Foster Families - These individuals play a key role in giving children a chance to live a better life. With them, a home can be filled with love, care, and security.
  3. Government - This advocacy helps reduce the number of street children, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
  4. Society and Future Generation - By raising awareness about the crisis, we can build a supportive, compassionate and inclusive community that values respect.

In response to the issue, the proposed plans aim to provide a solution:

  • Launching Adoption Awareness Campaigns in Pasig City- Administering more adoption programs led by the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will encourage more aspiring parents to adopt legally and provide a safe and supportive environment for orphaned children.
  • Accessible Shelter For Street Children - Establishing accessible child care facilities with less costs of requirements and complicated processes will provide street children a safe shelter and basic needs, promoting growth and development.
  • Strengthening Child Protection Policies - With the assistance from the government of Pasig, enhancing policies will protect children from abuse and exploitation.
  • Community Outreach Programs - Conducting programs including free meals, health assistance, and educational activities will support the personal needs and development of street children.

Every kindness we give can make a big difference. Together, let us adopt, support, and save street children to live with hope, dignity, and a bright future.
