As of late, we live in an extremely polarized and ideology driven society.

One could argue that this has has been at the expense of our life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A massive perpetuator of this division falls at the feet of  legacy media and by doing so has done a tremendous disservice to communities across-the-board. Meanwhile the constant fighting and anger that we have towards each other has provided for the politically powerful, a welcome distraction from the inter-workings and policy being implemented relatively unbeknownst to us.
 
This will Only INCREASE if we allow Legecy Media to operate without laws in place that advocate accountability. 

That all said, I propose this simple solution in place where in, should any news article or report at the time of reporting or at a later date be proven beyond reasonable doubt be incorrect or false, that these institutions be REQUIRED to issue a HIGHLIGHTED RETRACTION as a HEADLINE /at the BEGINNING of the article AND front page of any written news media (IE news paper/web article ect,) for  3 consecutive days per every 1 incorrect report that was made.

Also, an obvious link to a continuously available full list with back links to every incidence that this has occurred, all of which remain easily located, and accessible via the home page of any and all company, as well as, any and all associated press websites. 

No longer will it be acceptable to issue retractions quietly. No longer will it be acceptable to spend weeks reporting on a subject across all platforms just to issue a small fine print retraction on the final page of a website, news paper, or otherwise.

It will instead be a requirement of operation to announce retractions loud, clear, and concise. Thus, maximizing the chance that anyone whom might have consumed said incorrect report, be delivered truth on the matter…likewise, all of this would be implemented for news reporting on television.  Where in, all issued retractions be delivered AT THE BEGINNING of the news segment that reported the incorrect information in the first place, for THREE  Consecutive days for every ONE instance of Incorrect reporting. 

In theory, this would incentivize meticulous vetting of collected Information and details,  careful consideration regarding the distribution of what is labeled factual, and clear and purposeful disclaimers regarding what if anything is questionable at the moment of reporting, In order to avoid the embarrassment of being made to openly issue retractions at the forefront and the potential loss of citizen trust in the reporting agency and associates. Therefore, incentivizing accountability while simultaneously disincentivizing agenda driven reporting and corrupt practices.

We need this yesterday.
