The Government is already backsliding on its restoration of the Winter Fuel Payment. It has been announced that the qualification limit of £35,000 will not be increased in line with inflation, as with other benefits, and the payment itself will not be uprated in line with rises in energy costs. Silver Voices is also appalled that a compulsory digital ID system has been announced, with no plans as to how this will impact on the millions of people who are not online or do not have a smartphone.
