Thank you for your enquiry regarding traffic congestion along Palm Springs Road, Ravenhall—particularly at the roundabout intersection of Christies Road and Palm Springs Road during the afternoon peak period. Your feedback, referenced under case number 12040225, is greatly appreciated as it helps us better understand and respond to community concerns.

We acknowledge the significant growth in the surrounding business precinct and the resulting increase in traffic volumes, which highlights the need for infrastructure improvements along Palm Springs Road. At present, there are no future plans for additional connections beyond the existing entry and exit point on Palm Springs Road due to the close proximity of the railway on the south and freeway on the east.

An assessment has been conducted, which identified that peak congestion occurs only during the afternoon peak period. Based on current traffic volumes, this does not warrant an upgrade at this time. However, future line marking and parking restrictions are planned to improve visibility and enhance safety for drivers along this route.

The roundabout and the interchange of the freeway is under the care and management of the State Government. Melton City Council is in ongoing dialogue with the State Government Department of Transport and Planning, advocating for much needed funding on the Western Freeway.

Melton City Council actively advocated for improvements to the Western Highway through our Fix Our Roads Campaign in the lead up to the State election. We were successful in many commitments, and we continue to advocate to the State Government for improved safety outcomes within the City of Melton.
