I work at both Annapolis Community Health Centre and Soldiers Memorial Hospital as a Cook and Food Production Worker. My journey with NSHA began in 2021, when I was hired while 19 weeks pregnant. I take immense pride in my roles within these essential community institutions.
However, as a single mother dedicated to both my family and my profession, I find myself facing a significant challenge that affects both my ability to provide for my child and the quality of care I can offer. The issue is the lack of early-opening child care facilities in Annapolis County, which makes it overwhelmingly difficult for me to manage my work shifts that begin early in the morning.
