Living in Van Nuys, a once serene neighborhood, has become an ordeal with the constant drone of airplanes looming in the sky. The Van Nuys airport, along with its flight schools, seem to operate incessantly, with planes flying at all hours and at alarmingly low altitudes. For families in our community, this isn't just a nuisance; it has devastating effects.

Imagine trying to put your child to sleep with the roaring engines accompanying their lullabies or trying to catch a moment of peace only to be shaken by the ear-splitting sound of propellers. Many residents, including my own family, face disturbances every 15-20 seconds on some days, disrupting our sleep and severely impacting our health and quality of life.

The science is clear: noise pollution correlates with a number of health issues including stress-related ailments, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances, and even heart problems. It's not merely about comfort—it's about our well-being. Furthermore, these low flying planes intrude on our privacy, making everyday life feel like living under a microscope. Many of these flights circle directly in our front and back yards making them unusable, pool time and BBQs are disrupted by endless noise and planes above. 

Despite this ongoing torture, there seems to be a reluctance from the airport authorities and flight schools to engage with our community and seek a compromise. We understand the importance of aviation, but not at the cost of our health and peace.

We call for the Van Nuys airport and its flight schools to work collaboratively with the community. Implement strict operation time restrictions, increase flying altitudes, and maintain open channels for community feedback. There has to be a middle ground where aviation can thrive without compromising the health and happiness of local residents.
