I am personally affected by the issue of income inequality, a phenomenon that refers to the unequal distribution of income within our population. It is a significant societal issue, leading to social, economic, and political challenges. High levels of income inequality can exacerbate social divisions and hinder economic mobility. This makes it more difficult for people from lower-income backgrounds like myself to improve our circumstances.

Income inequality occurs when some individuals or groups in society earn significantly more than others due to differences in education, employment opportunities, wealth, social status, and policies. It can be measured using indicators such as the Gini coefficient or income percentiles (e.g., the top 10% vs. the bottom 10%).

According to data from The World Bank (2019), our country has one of the highest Gini coefficients globally - an indicator that we need urgent action against this growing disparity.

We urge policymakers and stakeholders to address this issue by implementing fairer policies on wealth distribution and creating equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of their background.
