I am an individual deeply affected by the economic problems that income inequality and wealth disparity bring. These issues have long been established as barriers to economic growth and stability. The World Economic Forum noted that economic inequality hampers growth and can fuel social disruption. With less disposable income, households cannot invest in education, health, or new business ventures that spur economic growth.

Furthermore, the OECD reported that the growing divide between rich and poor is hurting economies. According to their study, rising income inequality reduced economic growth by nearly 10% in the United States, Mexico and New Zealand over the past two decades.

Policy interventions are urgently required to redress these inequalities. Such interventions could range from educational initiatives that ensure equal opportunities from a young age to progressive taxation, wealth redistribution, and labor market reforms.
