The Issue

As a frequent visitor to Western New York, the majestic beauty of the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park has always captivated me. It isn't just a simple bed and breakfast. It serves multiple roles as a restaurant and gift shop too, and the experiences of the diverse visitors it hosts make it a vibrant part of our cultural heritage.

Built in 1914, the Glen Iris Inn carries a rich history that reflects the spirit and growth of this region. It has served as an architectural gem, a beacon of nostalgia, and a history lesson that sits nestled in the natural foliage of Letchworth State Park. Yet, despite its historical significance, it is not included in the National Register of Historic Places.

Listing it there will secure its history for future generations, preserving an integral piece of our state's past, and promoting local tourism by highlighting its historical allure. It is high time that the National Register of Historic Places staff and the New York State Historic Preservation Office recognize the Glen Iris Inn for the integral part it plays in our community and our local economy.

Please join the call to have the Glen Iris Inn listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Sign this petition. Uphold the cultural, historical, and economic significance of this site for future generations to appreciate and learn from.
