The world is ready for the anglerfish emoji!

This mysterious, deep-sea creature has captured hearts and minds across the globe—especially after a rare anglerfish was recently spotted swimming near the ocean’s surface, sparking a viral cultural moment. People connected deeply with its story, seeing it as a symbol of resilience, quiet strength, and emerging from darkness.

It’s been featured in a museum, songs, short animated films, tattoos, art, a crypto coin, memes, spiritual reflections, formed communities, and covered by dozens of major media outlets including National Geographic and The New York Post. And yet… we still don’t have an anglerfish emoji.

We’re submitting an official proposal to Unicode to make this happen!

But we need to show that people actually want it.
