Add Ingo and Emmet to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate through one last DLC!

The Issue

Hello, fellow Pokémon fans and Smash Bros. Ultimate supporters, it is me! Unless you have been living beneath a rock, most of us are familiar with the Subway Bosses Ingo and Emmet, originating from Pokémon Black and White as the heads of the Nimbasa City Battle Subway. Although they were never had the most significant roles in their games of origin as well as their respective sequels, there is something about the loveable train conductor duo that I believe even detractors of the pair would fall in love with or being warmed by, from their memorable designs to their goofy signature pose. But, alas, most comedic duos follow the path of splitting up regardless of their bond and status, whether fictional or real, and unfortunately, this happened to the Submas pair as of Legends: Arceus, as in that game, Ingo has been separated from both his twin brother and original Pokémon team from the Black and White games in the ancient Sinnoh region (referred to as Hisui), and has since remained there with much of his memory erased. Let us admit it, we all wept once we saw Ingo as a hollow shell of his former self, and whether through fanart, comic dubs, or petitions like these, we all want to reunite the two subway masters in some shape or form, and in my eyes, what better way to accomplish that than to add both Ingo AND Emmet as playable fighters into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the game's last DLC-unlockable fighters!

Now again, if you are unfamiliar with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is the 2018 instalment of the classic crossover fighting game series created by Masahiro Sakurai back in 1999, and ever since the series overall exploded in popularity with both the original Nintendo 64 game and its sequel Melee two years following, the franchise has evolved into such a harmonious love letter to the entire video game medium that to say it is a masterpiece is truly an understatement, and the game in the series that ultimately represents my analysis perfectly is Ultimate. From every fighter, stage, boss, etc. from the preceding games returning in one way or another, to the introduction of beloved newcomers like Banjo & Kazooie, Simon Belmont, and Sora (yes, THAT Sora; Sakurai went there), there is little wonder why Smash Bros. Ultimate is hailed as the biggest love letter to the video game world in recent memory. Although the game has too since ceased further postgame development after the introduction of Sora from Kingdom Hearts, we would be lying to ourselves if we said we didn't want at least one more newcomer to join through one last special DLC, and that is where Ingo and Emmet come in.

Not only would the introduction of Ingo and Emmet to the world of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as fighters would speak the greatest of volumes of how far they have come from the optional facility leaders players could fight back in Black & White, but it would also help reunite the brothers in a way that sticks true to the battling format of the Pokémon games they originate from, whilst additionally bringing closure for Submas fans like myself who have been dismayed by the two's separation come Legends: Arceus. Furthermore, the inclusion of these two characters would help them draw new fans into their already dedicated fanbase, uniting new and old into supporting the journey of the Subway Bosses and the significant impact they left on a dedicated certain fraction of the Pokémon fanbase despite their exceptionally minor roles from their debut games (plus, a remix of the Battle Subway theme from Pokemon Masters EX for that same DLC would be goddamn badass!).

In conclusion, by signing this petition, you will help the two most underrated characters in Pokémon have their chance to become the duo they used to be once again in a unique way that I don't think Submas fans trying to bring their hypothetical reunions for the brothers to life has ever considered beforehand. Therefore, should you sign this petition, not only will our beloved subway bosses be together once more, but you will help their dedicated fanbase grow to an even larger scale than ever before, further cementing the Subway Bosses as two of the most beloved minor characters in Pokémon history! So what do you ultimately think? Should we let Ingo remain in Hisui while Emmet is probably depressed just searching for him back in Unova over in the main series Pokémon continuity, or do you want them to hold their grand reunion in the most ambitious way possible? With that, I leave with one last thing to say, in honour to all fellow Submas fans across the globe: "All aboard!".
