Early this year, (around April) I learned about face turning octahedron puzzles, and I had planned to order one until I realized lanlans had gone out of stock, so I kept an eye on the dianshengs release date, and on June 16th I almost immediately preordered it, and it arrived a few days ago, 

And I can immediately say that this has to be an WCA event now!

If your even somewhat debating in your mind whether or not this should be an WCA event, read the following below

Amazing solving experience! Its method (Bencisco) is so unique compared to literally any other WCA event! It’s like 4x4 yau but with such different restrictions and the last layer solves like a weird combo of skewb and pyraminx! Even then the weird turning restrictions makes it even more fun to solve! It’s such a nostalgic feeling to solve a puzzle that literally you have no way of comprehending how to solve it when you first pick it up! 
It feels like the time you first solve a 3x3 Rubik’s cube! 

Now that the Diansheng is out, its now has an even larger base of solvers and youcubers supporting it as an non WCA event, with how many solvers from different countries and groups are speed solving it, it should be an event! 

Speaking of youcubers, Tingman, Cubeforspeed, the cubicle, Chris Choi, and many others have came out in heavy support for the non event! (Some of these people have millions of cubers subscribed to their channels!)

If that’s not enough, then what about some actual WCA competitions hosting FTO as a non WCA event?
well, the only real platform for non WCA events is Cubingcontests, which does have some comps, but it’s a really unknown site, however I have seen some large competitions host FTO such as 
Cubing USA 2023 Great Lakes championship, Utah championship 2023, SacCubing XVI 2024, don’t turn SLOw spring 2024, Cubing USA Northwest championship 2024, and Cubing USA Rocky Mountain championship 2024.

Keep in mind most of these were championships! Which some people worry about “having time for every event” during regular competitions, then why can giant championships handle having extra non events so well? 

Pretty soon, more companies likely will mass produce more FTOs, we have some pictures of a Dayan prototype, it’s not guaranteed to come out, but it’s pretty likely! 

If somehow you’re still debating in your mind whether or not this should be an event, well, I’ve never seen a non event have so much support and not be an event! And yes, I believe it has absolutely outgrown mirror and kilominx in popularity, and when skewb (the last event to be added) was added, it’s technology and fan base was Likely smaller then FTOs now, or at least a lot quieter. 
and after all of that, if that’s not enough. 

here’s the last thing I have to change your mind, we have positive popularity, we have data to back up at official championships and competitions, we have cubing “celebrities” in support, not to mention cube stores and companies, and the last event, skewb, was added 10 years ago, it’s about time we have a new event to grow our community and speedsolvers more!
