Add Ferry Line Cameras at Talequah for Vashon-Tacoma Point Defiance Route

The Issue

The cameras on Vashon Hwy SW near Talequah only show the first 5-10 cars in the line, but the ferry has a capacity of 64 cars. This limited visibility means that without accurate live updates, people can't effectively plan their journeys, potentially facing hours-long waits without any warning.

Washington State Ferries and the Washington Department of Transportation should work together to install two more cameras along Vashon Hwy SW. Doing so would provide a complete view of the ferry line, empowering travelers with the information they need to make informed decisions about their travel plans.

Additional cameras could dramatically ease the travel anxiety for those with time-sensitive obligations, like caring for loved ones, or those who commute regularly. This change would not only benefit individuals like me but the entire community who depend on the ferry for reliable transportation.

Let's urge the Washington State Ferries and the Washington Department of Transportation to prioritize this issue by expanding the camera coverage. Sign this petition to help make our travel on Vashon Island more manageable and less stressful for everyone.
