Add Direct Flight Routes between Puerto Rico and Los Angeles

Add Direct Flight Routes between Puerto Rico and Los Angeles
The Issue
Puerto Rico is one of the most popular vacation destinations for people living in the United States, but even more so for Puerto Ricans with family ties both home on the island and on the mainland. JetBlue serves as one of the top airlines servicing the Caribbean with over 80,000 flights annually, but they are missing out on a key route: direct flights between LAX and Puerto Rico.
Los Angeles and the airports of California and the Pacific Northwest don’t offer any direct flights leaving from LAX or any other major cities heading to Puerto Rico. According to the 2020 Census, there were 465,000 Puerto Ricans living in California, with 48,846 just in Los Angeles! Puerto Ricans living in the US are also known to frequently visit the island, and being one of the only airlines to establish a direct flight would lead to JetBlue becoming an instant favorite for those almost fifty thousand Puerto Ricans, many who will visit the island at least once a year.
Puerto Ricans are one of the fastest growing demographics in the US, and is the latino subgroup that has some of the highest purchasing power, especially in travel.
Puerto Rico is one of the most popular domestic tourism destinations in the US. Unfortunately, layovers in flights between Los Angeles and Puerto Rico cause travelers to choose more convenient destinations, such as Mexico and Hawaii. Offering a direct flight to Puerto Rico would increase tourism to the island, and JetBlue would take the lion’s share of this new market as it becomes the only airline to offer direct flights to a destination that is mostly known to East-coasters.
Thank you for reading and help us to tell the JetBlue Board of Directors to:
