Add Coworking as an Industry on LinkedIn

Add Coworking as an Industry on LinkedIn
The Issue
It is time for coworking to be recognized as the industry it truly is.
At Future Leaders of Coworking (FLOC), we are calling on LinkedIn to officially add “Coworking” to its list of industry categories.
Over the past two decades, thousands of professionals have built lasting careers in coworking. From community builders and space operators to workplace strategists, marketers, and technologists, these roles are shaping the future of work in meaningful ways. Today, coworking supports over 35,000 spaces worldwide and more than 1.5 million professionals who rely on flexible, community-driven work environments.
Despite all this, coworking is still not recognized as an official industry on LinkedIn. Professionals are forced to choose categories like “Hospitality” or “Real Estate,” which do not reflect the scale, innovation, or diversity of the work being done.
Coworking blends community, entrepreneurship, technology, design, real estate, and hospitality. No single existing label can accurately capture it.
Adding Coworking as an official LinkedIn industry would:
Elevate the voices and careers of coworking professionals
Help recruiters and companies connect with the right talent
Accurately represent a growing, global movement
Validate the work of those shaping the future of work every day
At FLOC, we represent the next generation of coworking leaders. We are asking LinkedIn to recognize what we already know: Coworking is its own industry, and it is time the world sees it that way.
If coworking has shaped your career, your community, or your vision for the future, we invite you to sign the petition and share your story.
Let’s make coworking visible. Let’s make it official.
