Add Bloomberg Terminals at Western Washington University

Add Bloomberg Terminals at Western Washington University
The Issue
As finance students at Western Washington University, we are requesting that the College of Business and Economics consider adding Bloomberg Terminals for student use. Bloomberg Terminals are the global standard in finance, used by professionals and institutions worldwide to access real-time market data, analytics, and economic research. We believe that gaining experience with Bloomberg software is a significant skill for students pursuing careers in finance, accounting, investment banking, and related fields. Many universities in Washington State, including the University of Washington, UW Bothell, and Washington State University, already provide students access to these tools as part of their finance education.
Currently, WWU does not have Bloomberg Terminals available on campus, limiting our ability to develop key technical skills that employers expect. Completing certifications like the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) course without hands-on access to this platform makes it very difficult for students to fully understand the depth and functionality of financial data systems used in the real world. Having even one Bloomberg Terminal on campus would make a significant difference; it would allow students to apply classroom knowledge in a professional context, conduct advanced research, and prepare for competitive internships and finance careers.
We understand that implementing Bloomberg Terminals involves costs, but we believe the educational and professional benefits for WWU students would far outweigh them. This petition represents our shared interest in bringing industry-standard financial tools to Western’s campus. By signing below, we express our support for the addition of Bloomberg Terminals and our hope that the College of Business and Economics will explore opportunities to make this resource available to students in the near future.
