Thank you for supporting AAPI history inclusion!
MUVFL has filed HB 287 and SB 294 for AAPI history inclusion in k-12 schools in Florida. Our bills are now assigned to committees. We are very positive about the impact we will have this year and ability to see our legislation passed. However, we need your help!
This is the basic process:
1. Bills need sponsors to file in the House and Senate
2. Bills get assigned to committees
3. Bills need to get placed on the agenda for the committees (this is often where bills die because they don’t get on the agenda)
4. Bills are read at the agenda and a vote occurs for the bill to move to the next agenda.
5. If the bill successfully moves through the 3 committees, it goes to the FLOOR of the House and Senate for a vote.
6. If the Floor votes are successful then the Governor needs to approve and sign off on the bill.
As you can see we are only on step 2 of a long tedious process.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
1. Contact your local House Reps and Senators using this toolkit
2. Contact the Chair, Vice Chair and if you’re ambitious the entire committee sending a letter of support using above toolkit and asking to be on the AGENDA for our first committees:
Senate
House
3. SHARE THIS WITH YOUR COMMUNITY, ORGANIZATION MEMBERS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS!
Everyone can play a small part in seeing this legislation passed. Again, we have a long road ahead, but we have made huge strides in the past 2 years. We currently have bipartisan support for his bill and have been receiving positive feedback from the legislators on the viability of the bill moving forward.
Please try to do at least 1 action to help us get MUVFL’s bills HB 287 AND SB 294 passed in 2023!
Help Make Us Visible Florida!
